Ciricu Vitae |
I am known as a local pastor who enjoys getting to know people and who is easily approached by all age groups. I bring some unique gifts to the position of pastor because of my professional background before ordination. When serving as a product development manager at the UARCO Corporation I was responsible for coordinating strategic planning and visioning for the Promotional Graphics product line.
I have continued to use these skills as a local pastor. I enjoy assisting churches to dream new possibilities about where God is calling them to serve while maintaining and honoring their sense of continuity and history. I enjoy helping churches and individuals rethink who they are and when necessary help them work through difficult decisions about growth and purpose.
I bring with me a strong passion for leading lively worship services and international mission work. I have visited central Africa four times since 1991. I was the first United Methodist exchange pastor to serve in Zimbabwe during 1991 at the St. Peters Inner-city United Methodist Church. It was my participation in this first exchange that deepened my spiritual understanding of pastoral ministry in a global, multicultural world. I had to rethink my views of community and the role of the local church within unjust and corrupt environments.
While having a strong emphasis in mission work I also share a strong desire for local church growth both numerically and spiritually. I enjoy teaching theology and bible classes that challenge our central core beliefs. It is my understanding that the best teaching is done when a pastor helps the community discover biblical truths for themselves so they may incorporate these truths within their daily lives. My additional five units of chaplaincy training in clinical pastoral education (CPE) at two different teaching hospitals has solidly prepared me for counseling and general pastoral duties during difficult situations in life.
I also believe in demonstrating a spirit of joy while serving in the local church through energetic enthusiasm and a sense of humor. I believe in incorporating children in worship in a variety of ways. Valuing our youth / children during Sunday morning is very important to me. They will always have an important voice when I lead worship.
Finally I look forward to serving many years in Dearborn and growing further in my calling as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
See you in church, let’s grow together!
